The new equipment meant hundreds more parts to store, all under the same roof. Here’s how Western Sales Ltd. made it possible thanks to commercial and industrial space specialist Action Office Interior.
The Initial Situation
Space was scarce in the original building built in the mid 1980s. First using traditional metal shelves and cardboard boxes to organize their parts department, team members saw the constant evolution of John Deere products leading them to space issues. The situation became complicated when equipment from one of the acquisitions was brought under the same roof.
Due to space limitations, expensive parts needed to be stored outside, in sea containers, thus affecting productivity and creating logistical issues.
The solution
As the new 35 000 sq. ft building was being constructed to better accommodate the bigger equipment and new inventory, an impressive 5000 sq. ft, two stories parts department was put together. To organize efficiently the thousands of parts to be stored, Action Office Interior recommended the installation of Metalia high capacity drawers. With 440 lb of capacity and fully adjustable interior compartments, these drawers were the best choice to replace the traditional bin boxes. A total of 180 drawers were installed in twenty shelf bays.
The Result
The end result is stunning. Not only did Western Sales increased dramatically their part storage capacity by adding drawers, but the whole organization is greatly improved now that everything is under the same roof. With room to grow, the dynamic group of dealerships can now keep pushing forward.
